arcadia

Arcadia debuted at the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art as a multidisciplinary body of wearable art conceived as a series of kinetic instruments. Activated through the routine gestures and movements of performers and participants, the works transform the body into a site of subtle sonic and physical exchange. Movement is not merely performative but generative—producing sound, rhythm, and spatial awareness that unfold collectively within the museum environment.

The photographed performances document these interactions, capturing moments where sound, motion, and stillness converge to reflect shifting states of self and spiritual awareness. Rather than emphasizing spectacle, the work foregrounds quiet, ambient exchanges drawn from everyday life, inviting attentiveness to the often-unnoticed forms of communication that shape shared experience. Through the integration of wearable objects, bodily movement, audio elements, and static imagery, Arcadia cultivates a sense of collective tranquility while offering a sustained inquiry into how knowledge, mystery, individuality, and connection are negotiated within communal space.
